trying.not.to.worry

We have family, friends, and friends of friends that have been affected by the current state of our economy. We've been praying for the economy, our friends and family, and President Obama.

Our pastor addressed this in his sermon a couple of weeks ago. We read out of Matthew 6, and every time I read the passage, I can't help but feel like Matthew is speaking directly to me when he says, "...O you of little faith." Why do I worry so much?!! Hello....if God is taking care of the birds and the flowers and the grass...of course he's going to take care of us!

"Are you not much more valuable than they?" The answer is a resounding YES! We're worth way more to him than birds, flowers, and grass!

And this one....Tomorrow will worry about itself and each day has enough trouble of its own. I love that part.

I read something once that said, "If you worry about something and it doesn't happen, then you've worried for nothing. If you worry about something and it does happen, well...now you've worried twice." So true....I need to remember this more often.

I'm going to try to worry less, and I hope you will too. :)

MATTHEW 6:25-34
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Great reminder not to worry about the things that God will take care of. Faith is something so simple yet so complex. What a great post!! We should really be praying more for our country. Thanks Jackie!!
