Our little Meredith needs some prayer. She came out to me this evening just in tears about having to go to sleep.
She's mentioned that she's had dreams about monsters before, but she hasn't gone into any detail. Tonight, she told me that she didn't want to go to sleep because of all of the monsters in her dreams.
I asked her what the monsters were doing, and she said that they were chasing her and trying to kill her. My heart is just broken. I'm teary-eyed just typing this. (kind of makes my last post about my luggage seem not so important, huh?)
I mean, honestly, we don't watch scary things in our house or anything. I'm even afraid of scary movies, and I refuse to watch them. Always have. Even if the t.v. is on in our house for a sporting event or something and an intense commercial comes on, we either change the channel or make our kids not look at the t.v.
I prayed with her this evening right after she told me (and she was calmed down by then), and her little lip was quivering and she was starting to cry again as I was praying about it. So, guess who else was crying....yep, you guessed it...me. I just feel so helpless about the whole situation.
I remember having bad nightmares as a kid, and I'm pretty sure it's something that all kids go though, but I'm just asking for some prayers for her as you're reminded. Thank you.

Oh my goodness, how sad! That is hard. I am sure she is scared. Gracie woke up one night calling my name because she thought she saw a monster..apparently it had a shell like a turtle and was making mean faces at her. It is a scary time for kids and what a great idea to pray with her! I will totally do the same!!!!
awww, that is so hard!
As a child, I struggled going to sleep for YEARS and years. I caused my poor parents a lot of stress!
I am glad you are taking this seriously and acknowledging her fears - that will mean the world to her! And praying with her - great!
I have struggled with fear most of my life (esp. at night/bed time) and find it so helpful to read Bible verses on that topic. Maybe reading them and explaining them to Meredith before bedtime will help...Also, listening to music helped me.
You are a great mom, Jackie - keep it up!
