ick.

I walked into Amelia's room the other morning, and she looked like this:

What is that on her face you ask...take a closer look...
Did you guess a tick? If so, you're a winner!

Is that disgusting or what? Poor Amelia. Living in the country, we have tick issues, and I'm fully aware of them. We've taken 5 off of Claire's head so far this year. I'm convinced that her blood is pure tick sugar.

This was Amelia's first, and Meredith hasn't had any. I just found it crazy-weird that it was attached to her face! I've never seen a tick attached to a face.

No worries, though...Dr. Mom came to the rescue. :)

ew. Jackie. I would've freaked out. But I suppose you're mostly use to those nasty little ticks. Despite the tick... I love these close up shots of Amelia. She's got such a beautiful face.

My daughter just had a tick for the first time this year. Do you worry about lyme's disease?? Should I worry?!?! how did you remove it. Would like to know for future reference. Thanks!!!

I knew as soon as I saw it that it was a tick. I would have lost it! Poor little thing. Looks like you found it just in time! I think I would start strategically placing flea and tick collars around the bedrooms in hopes of warding them off! :) She is so cute, glad you got that off of her!

@Jessica-We remove them with tweezers. You grab onto the tick (close to its head/where it's attached to the skin) and pull slowly and steadily until it is no longer attached. You know you have it if there is a little piece of skin still in the tick's mouth (gross, I know!).

The slow and steady part is what does the trick! I watched my husband do it the first time, and I did most of the others.

I usually try to scan the kids well if they've been outside, but sometimes I think the ticks get in on our clothes and then they attach to the girls while they're sleeping!

And, I'm not too worried about lyme disease. A nurse that goes to our church said we should be too concern. We're just aware of what it looks like (symptoms), and we try to get them off asap!
