Claire took Meredith's guys (her stuffed animals that she sleeps with) and hid them in Amelia's room. This obviously didn't go over well with Meredith. She ran, screaming through the hallway to find Claire.

I took off after her since she was screaming so loudly. She hit Claire. (Claire totally deserved it, but I just couldn't let it go.)

Me: Meredith, when you are upset with someone, you need to use your words. You need to tell Claire that you would like your guys back. You may not just walk up to her and hit her.

Meredith: (as sincere as possible) Well, sometimes I run.

The Lord has the best sense of humor when he creates these little ones!

Seriously.

Ok, so my friends and I were talking about crock pot recipes at the park today. Our co-op for the fall runs in the afternoon this year, so we decided that we need crock pot recipes for those days.

So, I know a lot of you probably have your favorite crock pot recipes, and we would LOVE to have them. I will compile a list for everyone if you send them to me!

1. Let's do main dishes only for this (feel free to include as many as you would like).

2. You may email them to my blog email address lifeasweknowit2@yahoo.com.

3. Make sure you put that "2" at the end of lifeasweknowit!

4. Recipes are due by next Friday, September 4.

5. Feel free to post a link to this post on your own blog so that we can have lots and lots of recipes!

Once I receive all of the recipes, I'll put them in a word document and email them out to all of you! And we can all enjoy each other's recipes.

Yay for the crock pot!

fletcher.love

So, my parents got this dog, Fletcher, in March. Saying that the girls love him would be an understatement. They think he's the best dog ever.

Remember, once you had kids, when your parents stopped talking to you when they walked through the door? They started every conversation with, "How are (insert names of children here)?" and "Tell (names again) that we love them...oh and you too of course!" Really, they just throw that in to make you feel better.

Well, the tables have turned at Grandma and Grandpa's house....excuse me....Fletcher's house.

Meredith says to me the other day, "You know those people that live with Fletcher?"

I burst out in laughter. "That would be Grandma and Grandpa."

How quickly you have been replaced with something more exciting. :)

We have a rule in our house: If Amelia has a tiny toy in her mouth that she can choke on, it will be thrown away.

Most of the time, when this happens, I take the toy and toss it. No one even knows because they don't see it.

Today was a different story. A teeny, tiny My Little Pony Plate ended up in Amelia's mouth. I took it out and threw it away.

Meredith was sitting there and asked what it was. I said, "It was a little white plate that goes with your ponies."

"Mom!" she protested, "that is my favorite plate, but I don't know which one you're talking about!"

She proceeded to tell me at least three more times that it was indeed her favorite plate although she wasn't sure which one it was.

Finally, I said, "If you don't know which one it is, how can it be your favorite?" She replied, "I think I know which one it is now."

Suuuurrrre.

Today, while I was on the phone with my mom, I hear Amelia crying in the back of the house. I walk into the hallway to try to find her.

She had shut herself in the bathroom....with the light off....and had opened one of the left side drawers in our vanity.

No big deal, right? Well, it wouldn't normally be a big deal, except that when you close the door AND open a left side drawer, you can't open the door to the bathroom. The door opens into the bathroom and the drawer blocks it.

Hmmmm....I had to think about this one. There is no other way into the bathroom besides through the door which was not opening because a drawer was blocking it.

Poor little Amelia. I had been really good about closing that bathroom door because of her obsession with the toilet. I guess I forgot once today.

Me: "Amelia, can you close the drawer? Close the drawer sweetie!!"

Amelia: Cry, cry, cry.

Me: (thinking) That was a total long shot. She obviously doesn't know how to close a drawer in the dark or the light for that matter. (Although she did figure out how to open it in the dark.)

So, I hang up with my mom and go into problem solving mode. Meredith brought me a flashlight, and I picked up a butter knife.

There was about a 1/2 inch gap to work with once the door opened, so I shined the light in and slowly closed the drawer with the butter knife.

Thankfully, Amelia had stopped crying and I didn't have to bust any doors or drawers. Overall, a pretty good day. :)

last.week

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, my parents took us on an all-family vacation to Great Wolf Lodge and King's Island. We had SO MUCH FUN! I hadn't been to an amusement park for almost 10 years! Josh hadn't been since he was probably 8. Wow.

Anyway, here are some of the quotes that I remember from the day:

"If they would have stopped the ride when we were half-way up the first hill and asked if I wanted to get off, I would have said yes." Josh (after going on Diamondback)

"I had no scream in me." Jackie (after going on Drop Zone)

"I am so wired!" Claire (on our way home after eating cotton candy)

"I don't think I want to go on that again until I get bigger." Meredith (after going on the Fairy Wand...formerly the mini-beast)

Thanks so much Mom and Dad...we had a blast!

Seriously.

This lovely little note was on my van following a home school meeting last week. (There were several people at the meeting, so (of course) we couldn't all fit in the same driveway.)

That's right...it doesn't say "Keep off the grass!" It says, "Kee off the Grass!"

And then it goes on to say, "Tell the Rest of the People that in those houses as well." (As if we were all in different houses and I should take care of the problem.)

Hmmmmm.

First of all, in my defense, I was barely in their yard. Secondly, they didn't even have that nice of a yard.

I just wanted to yell, "GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!" But I didn't because I don't usually yell at people.

I did notice, though, that they had placed these lovely "Kee off the Grass" signs on a few other vehicles parked around me as well.

Seriously...GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!

Note to self...if I ever go to a meeting on this street again, I'm parking on the other side of the street. Or maybe I'll bring my sign back and park in the middle of their yard. Did I just type that? I shouldn't type things like that...it doesn't make me sound like a very nice person.

And overall, I'm really very civil except when people are being ridiculous. Then, well, I can be a little sarcastic and annoyed, and I say things that I shouldn't.

Ok, I'm over it.

camp.revisited

Josh and I met at summer camp when we were in high school in 1994.

I worked at camp during the summer of 1999 and started dating Josh in November of 1999. We both worked at camp in 2000. These were two of my favorite summers of my life! We made lifelong friends while we were there.

Last weekend, we attended an alumni summer staff reunion, and we had so much fun! It was fun to take Claire and Meredith as well.

The girls loved playing at the beach and swimming. We also played volleyball, basketball, tug 'o war, and capture the flag (of course). The alumni staff beat the current staff even though some of us were twice their age. :)

It was so much fun catching up with old friends! We can't wait to do it again in the future!

We now have one less hairbrush and one less toothbrush in our house thanks to Amelia.

pardon.my.bragging

I'm totally going to brag on my hubby.

Josh loves to golf, and he's really pretty good (although he doesn't like to brag on himself so I will). He doesn't get to play that often for a few reasons:

1. He has a wife (surprise, surprise...although she is generous with her "go ahead and go" statements).
2. He has 3 daughters, and reason #1 needs him around from time to time.
3. He has a lot of other hobbies that take up his time.
4. It costs a lot of money, and well, so do other things in his life (see reasons 1, 2, and 3).

In spite of the fact that he doesn't get to play very much, he's playing better than ever. Recently, he decided to try to qualify for our city tournament. He ended up placing 2nd in the qualifier against 100-200 other golfers!!! I'm so excited for him!

Now, that sounds really great, but there were other golfers that automatically qualified because of how they placed last year and (I think) because of where they placed in their summer play.

So, the city tourney is coming up soon, and I know Josh is pumped about it. I'll post an update once the city tournament takes place.
