magical.excuse.me

Meredith and I were sitting on the couch together a couple of days ago.

Me: Did you toot?
Meredith: Yes.
Me: I can smell it.
Meredith: Excuse me.

A few moments later:
Meredith: Wasn't that magical?
Me: What?
Meredith: After I said "excuse me" my toot didn't stink anymore. It's magical!

Unfortunately, it wasn't magical, but it was funny.

let's.go.fly.a.kite

This was fun. We were able to head to our local park a couple of weeks back and fly our kites. It was a blast for all of us!

Josh did a lot of helping to get the kites back in the air. Claire was really good at flying her kite. She figured out how to run into the wind to keep the kite up in the sky!
A little airplane flew by while we were there.
And when we went to play soccer, Amelia ended up tangled in the soccer net. Who hasn't had this happen to them? :)
So, the next time that you say, "What should we do on this breezy day?" Definitely consider taking your kids and your kites to the park. Fun. Fun. Fun.

first.day.of.school

I know we're a little late in this, but I just had to post about our first day of school.

So, if only Meredith had an ounce of personality, her pictures would have been much more exciting. First day of Pre-K:

And who can forget Amelia....doing what she does best.

kickball.game

We had so much fun a few weeks ago when Josh's company hosted a kickball game! How much fun is that?!! The kids even got to play!

It was a fun little family outing complete with Cracker Jack and Lemonade. We can't wait to do it again next year!

I picked these up at our local resale about a month ago. They're a new favorite. A tutu and hot pink cowboy boots...that Meredith is such a trend-setter.

update.

Well, we have been crazy busy. We started school last week (pictures to come), and we enjoyed our Labor Day weekend at the lake with both sets of families!

I don't think too much is new, but for my faithful crock pot buddies...I'll have your recipes out hopefully by the end of the week. I have a wedding next weekend, so I'm trying to tie up loose ends with that! Weddings + school + normal life = typical crazy life (just like everybody else!).

On a positive note....football season is upon us, and I couldn't be more excited about it! Yay!

take.it.to.the.top

So, do you remember this post?

Which was followed by this post.

All this to say that manager Beth NEVER called me back after she said she would in June. I really wasn't surprised. I think they just wanted me to quit bugging them.

The week she was supposed to call back was the first week of June when Claire was in the hospital. Then, the other girls ended up sick, and this whole matter of principle got pushed to the back burner...followed by wedding season.

So I finally decided (once crazy summer was over) that I would find someone a little higher up to contact regarding my suitcase reimbursement.

After browsing through some names online from the webpage of my airline of problem, I came to the president of the company. It specifically said something like this right under his name: "(Named Airline) has had the highest level of customer satisfaction while Mr. So-and-so has been the president."

Oh really? Let's see how this works. So, I typed my 2 1/2 page letter explaining my situation and sent it to president So-and-so. That was last week, and I recieved a call yesterday.

I talked to Greg, who is the head of baggage problems at corporate, and he was extremely apologetic and ready to send me my reimbursement right away.

He could not believe the way that our local airline had handled the situation, and I think he apologized at least four times. He was SO nice and helpful. He thought it was also insulting that our locals offered me $9 for my bag.

I was nice, he was nice, and I'm getting my reimbursement...finally! Yay! I'm so excited. It has made my day!!

So, moral of the story: Sometimes you have to take it to the top.
