no.mommy

Last night at bedtime, I was sending the girls back to get their pajamas. Claire had already headed back. Josh and I were talking in the kitchen, and Meredith was jumping around the kitchen just "being Meredith".

I looked at Meredith and said, "Meredith, please go put your jammies on."

She was starting to head back but still said, "No, Mommy!" And she wasn't being extremely defiant (just loud), but that just wasn't the answer I was looking for!

I said, "Please try that again." (Hoping for an "ok, Mommy".)

She looked at me with the sweetest face and the kindest voice and said (once more), "No, Mommy."

Josh and I lost it! Oh so funny.

laundry.sounds

I have been HORRIBLE about doing the laundry lately.  It's been a long couple of weeks around here.  Anyway, I have a load going today, and the door to the laundry room is open.

From Claire:  What's that sound coming from the laundry room?

Me:  That would be the washer.

I mean, I know it's been a while since I've done laundry, but it hasn't been that long.

claire.update

Claire and I headed to the hospital this morning for her VCUG.  Let's just say that things didn't go so well.  She loved that the nurses gave her a warm blanket when she arrived (and then another).

She didn't like it when they were trying to insert her catheter.  She cried, screamed, and kicked....borderline hyperventilated.  The nurse gave her a few minutes to calm down and brought back reinforcements.

All 3 nurses working together were very helpful, but Claire is a strong little girl.  A little bit too strong at times.  The nurses kept looking at me and saying, "Are you doing ok?  We don't want to hurt her."  Me?  I was doing fine.  I'm so unemotional about things like this.  I felt bad for the nurses because she was fighting, but what do you say to your child?  I just wanted the test done.

I calmed her down again, and on the 3rd try, I thought we were going to get it.  The nurse was about 5 seconds away from inserting that little catheter, and Claire threw her hands around, unsterilized everything and was screaming, crying, and kicking again.  "Mom!!!  I want to come back when I'm older and tougher!!"

We were all traumatized at that point.  I think the nurses just felt bad for Claire.  I didn't feel too badly...I wanted to get the test done.  The nurses didn't want to hurt her, and she was being extremely uncooperative.  Maybe next time.

So, we have to wait and see what her doctor says.  Patience.

prayers.please

Claire is going in for a test this morning to see if they can figure out why she's having frequent UTIs (which they believe could be the cause of her high fevers). She has to have a catheter for the test, and I'm sure that I'm more nervous than her! So, prayers would be appreciated (for both of us!), and I'll update when I can. Thanks!
