{my favorite part of the day}

Let me start by apologizing for the blurry photo.  It is seriously the best shot I have of Amelia since her birthday.

So, almost every night at dinner, we all go around the table as a family and share our favorite part of the day.  Tonight, I asked Meredith to go first.  Claire went next.  And then it was Amelia's turn.

Amelia starts by saying that her favorite part of the day was when she was back in her bedroom, just before dinner, picking up.  Meredith says, "Your favorite part of the day was picking up??"  I think we were all thinking the same thing.

She says, "And then I put all of my shoes in the closet, and then I hung that pretty white dress up, and then I put things on my bed, and then I walked out into the hallway and into the entryway and Daddy just walked through the door and I gave him a big hug and that was my favorite part of the day."

And then I was all teary-eyed because it was the sweetest thing EVER.

And then Josh looks at her and smiles and says, "That was my favorite part of the day, too."

And let me just say that this entire dialog at dinner was MY favorite part of the day.

{sloppy joes}

I'm kind of a kid in that I love sloppy joes.  My blogger buddy, Darcy, submitted this recipe as part of one of her recipe swaps, and let's just say that I'm a huge fan!  The best part?  These things are easier than easy, and I typically have all of the ingredients on hand.  Love it.

sloppy joes
1 lb. burger
1/2 c. brown sugar*
2 T. mustard
1/2 c. ketchup
1 T. worcestershire sauce
season salt, to taste
onion powder, to taste

Brown and drain burger.  Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer for 3-5 minutes.  {This mixture can also be made ahead and placed in a crock pot to keep warm.}

*I usually cut the brown sugar to 1/4 c. because the hubby likes them a tad less sweet.
